Mandy Corbet
Mandy was introduced to pickleball by a tennis friend in 2022 and it wasn’t long before she was well and truly hooked!
Diving headfirst into competitive play, in her first event - The 2023 Australian Pickleball Championships, she secured two golds and one silver medal.
Mandy went on to represent NSW as the #1 female player in the State Pickleball Team for 2023 and was awarded the ‘Player’s Choice Award’ at the 'Battle of the Border' against Victoria. She was also awarded the ‘Pacific Pickleball League Most Valued Female Masters Player’ award that same year.
Mandy has continued to rack up the medals, achieving multiple successes at the top skill level in Australia and abroad, in singles, doubles and mixed doubles and achieved Australian pickleball masters’ 2024 rankings of #1 in women’s singles and doubles and #2 in mixed doubles.
As team Captain of the Sydney Smash MLP Masters, along with tertiary qualifications in Physical Education, Human Movement Science, Sports Coaching and Sport Psychology, Mandy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to coaching. Most of all, Mandy says that she just loves the game and is passionate about coaching others to achieve their best.
Fabian Yu
Fabian's journey into pickleball began in 2020 during a fluke discovery while attending an event with his daughter. Captivated by the game's swift pace, agility, and intricate techniques, he quickly became hooked.
Also coming from a tennis background, Fabian has leveraged his extensive skills to master pickleball, honing his abilities to become a fierce presence on the court.
His impressive track record spans across Australia, where he's clinched numerous medals in the 3.5+ level across singles, men’s, and mixed doubles in various age groups including 19+, 35+, and 50+.
A UPCC certified Pickleball Coach, Fabian brings a deep understanding of on-court rules and game strategies. He is passionate about sharing his expertise, offering guidance to players at all levels—from beginners to seasoned competitors—helping them elevate their game.
Scott King
Scott commenced his pickleball journey in 2023 on the South Coast of NSW. Like most, he quickly became addicted to the game as it allowed him to play with people from a variety of ages and skill levels.
Travelling to different locations to play pickleball has not only connected Scott to many different players but also opened up opportunities to learn more about the game.
Scott has an extensive tennis background and enjoys golf when not on the pickleball court. He has played an array of different sports; however, he is now firmly focused on pickleball.
Scott is a regular at tournaments around Australia, competing in men’s singles and doubles in the 4.0+ 50+ age events and has medaled in both events.
Scott is a UPCC certified Pickleball Coach who brings an in-depth understanding of court craft, doubles and singles strategies and techniques. Scott’s aim is to help players build confidence and skill at all levels.
Brad Kluss
Brad first discovered pickleball while on a cruise ship in 2019. Immediately falling in love with the speed, agility and technical elements of the game.
A seasoned tennis player of some 45+ years, Brad has adapted transferable tennis skills to his pickleball game, all the while fine tuning his craft to a point where he is a formidable opponent on court.
As an experienced tournament player here in Australia and overseas, Brad has had multiple successes in state and national events in the 4.0+ level, accruing medals of all colours in singles, men’s and mixed doubles across 19+, 35+ and 50+ age brackets. He was also recently appointed captain of an Australian Allstars pickleball league team.
As a Level 2 Pickleball Australia & Pickleball Coaching International graduate and a qualified referee, Brad is well equipped with all of the on-court rules, shot executions and game-play strategies.
Coupled with textbook know-how he is keen to deliver support to newbies, experienced and high performing players.
Alex Cortez
Alex first pickled up a pickleball paddle in 2022. What began as a casual fun hobby quickly turned into a competitive passion, leading him to compete in some of the highest-level tournaments across Australia, including in PPA and NPL events.
Alex has competed against some of Australia’s top-ranked players, gaining firsthand experience of what’s required at the highest level of the game. This exposure has helped him develop a strong understanding of both singles and doubles strategy, along with the skills needed to succeed in the sport.
Alex has also taken part in clinics with U.S. pros and continues to learn from the best to develop his game.
As a UPCC certified Pickleball Coach, he enjoys working with players of all ages and abilities, helping them build solid fundamentals and grow their confidence on the court.
